How- Taylor felt receiving the award
Freshman Taylor Austin was announced Student of the Month by the Bowie administration on April 10th, 2017. This award represents the most hard working and achieving student for the month. She was chosen because of her effort and intelligence she puts towards all her work.
"It feels good to be recognized for all my hard work," Taylor Austin said.
"I often spend about six to eight hours working on homework and studying for upcoming tests or quizzes," Austin said.

Taylor is one of the most hard working students here at Bowie, and that's why she deserves to be recognized and awarded. She completes all assignments and turns in everything on time and doesn't procrastinate. With having hours of dance practice after school, Taylor manages her time well and gets everything done.
Taylor is also known for her personality here at Bowie. Not only does she have good grades, she's friendly, social, and funny. Taylor tries to make everyone feel welcomed and safe here at Bowie. She has good relationships with her teachers, staff members, and peers. She treats everyone like she wants to be treated by being sweet and friendly. Having talked to Taylor during the interview, she was very polite and very charming.
"I look up to my mom because she's a very nice and caring person towards others," Austin said.
In the future, Taylor hopes to be like her mom. She says that she looks up to her mom because she's a a She also wants to be a doctor. She plans on continuing school through college and getting her doctorate, which is at least 8 years of college. With how much Austin works, it would not be a surprise if she achieved this goal.
"Being the Student of the Month is more stressful on me because you have a lot more pressure on yourself to be a good student," Austin said.
Though the award is a great achievement, Taylor thinks the it's also challenging having to be the Student of the Month. Being a role model to peers is hard, but if you want to strive towards this award, Taylor says all you need to do is keep pushing yourself and work towards achievement.
